XC athletes are often less visible than other athletes as they compete, but their training is among the most physically and mentally challenging of all sports.

A. In middle school, they run either a 3K or 2 mile course. In high school, they compete in a 5k or 3 mile course.
A. For each Varsity Division (boys and girls), 7 runners compete. The JV race is run coed with no limit on the number of runners.
A. Your team's first 5 runners to cross the finish line score the same number of points as their finishing place in the race. If our runners finished 1st, 5th, 6th, 8th, and 12th, we would have 32 points as a team. Lowest score wins.
A. Glad you are paying attention. Those last 2 runners don't score points, but have an opportunity to add points to the other teams. If our 6th place runner finishes in front of another teams top 5, well then we add a point to their score.
A. We compete at 3 locations; Carmel Middle School, our home course, and finally the BSIM Palo Corona XC course.
